Spotlight on urban water R&D

WQRA highlights new developments in the urban water R&D landscape

In honour of the International Year of Chemistry, WQRA has contributed an article on the urban water research and development landscape to the Royal Australian Chemical Institute's Chemistry in Australia magazine.

The article, published in the September 2011 issue, provides an overview of this important area, and also describes the formation of a new, collaborative enterprise between organisations that work in this field: the Australian Water Research & Development Coalition (AWRDC).

The AWRDC aims to foster an environment of cooperation and collaboration in which research dollars will go further, through pooling resources and eliminating duplication, and in which knowledge and adoption can be leveraged across all stakeholders.

Given the influence that purchasers of R&D have on research communities, the underlying thesis is that a coordinated and collaborative approach from research investors will result in greater net benefit for the Australian community.

WQRA had a leadership role in helping to establish the AWRDC, and is glad to be a part of this important group, which, through collaboration, can achieve more than the sum of its parts.
