WQRA is calling for input into its Research Blueprint: 2012-2016

A special WQRA discussion paper was released at the WQRA AGM on Friday 28 October, 2011.

The paper, Towards a Research Blueprint: 2012-2016, will help WQRA to formulate its Research Blueprint for the next five years. It has been drafted to support and foster dialogue with WQRA members and key stakeholders on the future priorities for WQRA research investment, and is structured around four key focus areas that have been determined through WQRA’s consultation process:

1. To characterise and evaluate water quality public health risk scenarios
2. To develop water quality monitoring tools and processes
3. To improve business operations
4. To facilitate knowledge adoption and long-term community impact

Input and comment on the discussion paper, and on WQRA’s future research directions, is invited from WQRA members and key stakeholders. Submissions can be made directly to WQRA via the CEO, and one-on-one meetings will be held with industry members. A members’ workshops looking at chemicals of concern will be held in Melbourne on 5 December, and a workshop on pathogens will be held in Adelaide on 12 December. Comments and input are required by 19 December, 2011.

Following input from members, the Research Blueprint will be drafted and provided for comment and review by WQRA’s Industry Advisory Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee, Project Review Team and Board. It is envisaged that the final draft will be available for members to review in late January/early February, and will subsequently be tabled at the February Board and members’ meetings.
