 SUPERVISORS    STUDENTS
Essential Criteria    
- Applications must be submitted from a WQRA Member organisation

- Project must align with WQRA Research Priorities issues

- Letters of collaborator's support is to be submitted with application

- Ensure all nominated students are eligible for WQRA scholarship
  - Student must be enrolled or intend to enrol at a WQRA Member University
- Applications are open to domestic and international students (Conditions apply)
- Domestic students must secure an APA or equivalent scholarship
- International students must secure an IPRS and/or Australian primary scholarship before submitting an application
- Student enrolment status must be full time at member university
- Short-listed students must be available for an interview panel on 8 December 2011
- Students must be available for orientation day and members meeting in February 2012

 

Application Information    

- Project Proposal applications must be according to the guidelines as detailed in documents COR-003 and PRO-008.  All essential criteria must be met.
- Submissions are open to projects which are in their first year of commencement. The student is to be nominated on the application.  You may also nominate a preferred candidate.  Ensure the student is elegible for a WQRA scholarship.
- The Agreement for Provision of  WQRA Postgraduate Scholarships must be signed by WQRA and the host organisation before commencement of scholarship
- The SIPCA Agreement must be signed by WQRA, the host organisation and the student before commencement of scholarship.
- Submissions are limited to one Chief Investigator per Initiative
- PhD projects may be associated with a larger project, however the scope of the PhD project must be clearly defined
- WQRA encourages members to submit collaborative projects where the student undertakes their research on location with a research member as well as an industry member
-If more than one CV, collate and attach as one document

-If more than two collaborators, attached the letters of support in one document

 

- All applicants must lodge an application for a full stipend primary scholarship at the host university for the relevant project.

- If applying for WQRA Scholarships at more than one university, it is necessary to apply for a full stipend at each university.

- Each successful application is awarded subject to the student securing the primary scholarship.

- Prospective applicants are advised to contact the supervisor listed for the project to discuss their interest and suitability to the project requirements prior to submitting an application.

- CV and an official academic record are to be attached in one document. Please note, an official transcript may take up to one week or more to obtain.


- WQRA reserves the right not to award all scholarships

  • be suitable for PhD project
  • clearly define PhD project
  • demonstrate supervisor/s history of supervising students to completion
  • demonstrate supervisor not to be overloaded with students
  • demonstrate the benefits of research to industry
  • clearly define objectives, methodology, outcomes and technology transfer mechanisms of project
  • clearly define funding contributors, milestones and expenditure including conference support
  • clearly identify resources in the project plan to support the student and the project  to ensure the project will be completed within the proposed timeframe
 
  • include academic transcript and CV
  • ensure referees have been notified
  • have contacted supervisors to ensure suitability;ensure content of application includes work experience and skills which relate to the project requirements
  • demonstrate your motivation to be involved in the water industry
